Edward Wallace is a fine young fiddler who has recently moved to Boston. Since this is an Intergenerational dance, I guess that makes Randy and I the old farts! We should have a blast.

Come join us contra dancing on Saturday nights in Lenox, Massachusetts in the Lenox Community Center, at 65 Walker Street. Experience the pleasure of dancing on a beautiful wood floor, in a high-ceiling second floor (handicap accessible) ballroom with a raised stage.

Admission is $10 and $5 for students New Dancers – 2nd dance free!.
Dances begin with a beginner introduction at 8:00 followed by more experienced-level dances from 8:30 to 11:30. Refreshments are offered during the social break from dancing. All the dances are taught. Come alone or with others.

This past winter I composed my first orchestral piece, which is called Joyful. This was composed at the request of Eric Stumacher, director of the Keene Chamber Orchestra, and is specifically orchestrated for the KCO and the Keene Elementary Strings, which consists of close to 80 elementary school students on violin, viola, and cello. The piece is in three parts, which are musical formats common for contra dance tunes: a jig (6/8) a waltz (3/4) and a reel (4/4).

I am very honored to have been asked to do this, and hope that the piece brings as much joy to those listening as it did to me in the creation process.

A concert to benefit the Jon Brooks New Studio Project featuring music by Jon’s friends in three New Hampshire bands, Celticladda, Swing a Cat and The Moores.

Additional Information:
Celticladda: Melodic, vibrant, compelling traditional New England dance music with a Celtic twist! Featuring fiddler Randy Miller and Bill Thomas on flute and uilleann pipes, with Gordon Peery on piano. Swing A Cat: A trio of talented women singing and playing jazz in three-part harmony. Featuring Liza Constable on guitar, Val Blachly on upright bass and Agnes Charlesworth on piano.

The Moores: A four-piece family rock band fronted by local furniture and guitar maker Terry Moore and featuring Toby on guitar, Tom on percussion and Barson on bass.

Artist fees and all proceeds will be donated to the Jon Brooks New Studio Project. Brooks, a New Hampshire furniture master, lost his New Boston studio and all its contents in a January 18 fire.

At Concord’s new hotspot, the Spotlight Café in The Governor’s Hall, featuring a cash bar and concessions. Seating is general admission. Preferred seating is reserved for Capitol Center members.♠
