Celticladda will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Harlow’s Pub in Peterborough. Traditional Irish jigs, reels, and airs, along with a few songs. The band will be joined by Spencer Peery on electric guitar.

When Molly and Spencer were very young, we would often take stroller-pushing/back-packing walks along our dirt road, accompanied by unthethered dogs. One or two cars passing by were an anomaly. These days a walk is less relaxing (though still very nice) – a car every few minutes, sometimes one from either direction converging on us at once!

This morning, Spencer, at 22, is visiting home and is more tempted by sleeping in than anything under the tree. Molly, at 25, is working a 12 hour nursing shift at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, far away. The first round off coffee down, a bit of breakfast ingested, and the most immediate reading (yesterday’s papers and today’s NY Times online) out of the way, Susan and I headed out for a walk. It is warm (above 20 degrees) and sunny. Skye (the border collie) is leashed, not because of cars, but her appetite for the ankles of other walkers we may encounter. Henry, the cocker spaniel, is harmless, and knows about  the side of the road when a car comes. But we saw no one, either on foot or wheels, for all of three miles. Smoke from a few neighbor’s chimneys was the only sign of life, though no doubt there were quiet forest creatures well aware of our intrusion into the serenity of the morning. Peace, and now more coffee.

What a pleasure to be playing with Danny – he played 2nds fiddle, guitar, banjo and dumbec in Fresh Fish – our band with Kerry Elkin back in the mid 1980’s – mide 1990’s. A brilliant fiddler, he promises to resurrect many of the tunes Kerry used to play.

And with Adina callng – should be just  an amazing dance.
